Notes on using ComplexLoci.xls

This spreadsheet shows randomly generated examples of 3 common complex loci. It was designed for the OCR Further Pure 1 module. It aims to build up familiarity with the loci and the reinforce the association of the geometrical interpretation with the algebraic form of each locus.

The Argand diagram can be hidden so that students can be asked to draw their answer before seing it. They could even come and draw their answer on the spreadsheet if using an interactive whiteboard.

Once they know the three types the random option can be used so that they no longer have any information on the geometrical form.

As an extension the cartesian equations could be found.
