Notes on using Percentages2.xls

This workbook was produced with a GCSE retake class in mind and provides practice with the basic routines of percentages. Each sheet asks a randomly generated question and checks the students answer. I imagine it being used when all the types of problem have been covered asrevision or consolidation of the topic.

Students could use it independently for revision or during class time instead of exercises.

A common difficulty of students is that they muddle up one method with another. Hopefully this workbook encourages an awareness of the different types of problem and builds up flexibility in switching from one type to another.

At first students could be encouraged to work on one type at a time until they are confident with each and then move to switching between types frequently using the Random Question buttons or by doing the mixed page of questions.

At the end there is a page of mixed questions with one of each type.

The mixed page can be printed out as a ready made exercise sheet. It needs to be printed as landscape.
