Notes on using PrimeFactors.xls

This worksheet helps to demonstrate finding the prime factors of a number.

Enter the number to be factorised in the yellow cell to the right of the clear button.

It will accept numbers up to one million.

In the left hand column enter prime numbers that you think may be factors.

Keep going until the last number in the right hand column is prime.

The top line shows the factors in order and the line beneath shows the factorisation with index notation.

Finally there is a table of primes up to 100 for quick reference and at the top left a checker for larger numbers.
