Notes on using QTimer.xls
This worksheet was based on an idea from one of the course participants at the 2nd TSM.
It is aimed at teacher use in a whole class situation perhaps on an interactive whiteboard or computer with projector .
It provides randomly generated timed quiz questions on the four rules for integers, decimals, standard form, or fractions with options to vary the range the numbers are chosen from, restrict the numbers to positive only, or for fractions to keep their size below one.
Clicking on "New Problem" starts the quiz timer clock and the answer is shown when the time is up.
If you want to see the answer before this simply click on "Show Answer". This will display the answer and stop the clock. The next time "New Problem" is clicked the clock will be reset.
The time the clock counts down for can be set by clicking on "Set Timer".
I have provided a separate version for Excel 97 users called Qtimer97.xls as the original version kept causing an error when it was closed due I think to a bug in that version of Excel. It is essentially the same but slightly less pretty!
