Notes on using SinGraph.xls

The first sheet allows students to vary the values of a, b and c for a graph of  y = aSin(bx) + c using the sliders and observe the effect.

The second sheet gives them a randomly generated target graph to match, again using sliders.

The third sheet tests their understanding further by generating a random graph with integer values for a, b and c which the student must determine. Student enter their answers on the sheet and are told whether or not they are correct.

The worksheet could be used in investigative mode to introduce the topic either on an interactive whiteboard with the whole class or individually with follow up to ensure they have "got it", or as a revision/consolidation exercise after an initial explanation.
